Blue Dandelion Yoga "A Novel Idea" Book Share Community

Book share/swap. Please join Blue Dandelion Yoga for it's 1st Book Swap/Share. This is just a natural fit and great compliment to the community we are building here in Winsted.  Mindfulness beyond the Mat.

Here's how I've decided to run the book Share/swap:

1.  Each Person needs to register that they are participating with the studio for the book share/swap.  (The Link to register is below)

2. Each person in that registration writes something about them...things you love, travels you've taken, maybe some general interests.

3. I will pair you up with another person in our studio book share community. They will find a  book...based on some of the things you have listed about you in the registration process. In return you will give a book to them based on some of the things they wrote in the registration process. The share exchange will be handled through me at the studio with no address exchange. Each person in the book share community will have one name  to share with only.  A book for a book. :)

4. You are registering to swap one book for one book.  If you register and can't do that...please let me know so I can make sure everyone gets one book.

5. This is a free event (no fee to the studio)

6. The book you exchange can be new or used (the person you give the book to.... keeps the book)

7.  You are encouraged to write notes about the books you are giving... in a note or even on the inside cover of the book (maybe why you loved it, why you shared the book or why you think they will love them!)

8. Start Date for the Book Share is April 8.....to get the books to the studio....but no event will be held at the studio on that day. It is just a reference date as to when you should register by and books should be into the studio to start to be  exchanged.

9. Limiting this first group to a Book Share Community of 20.

A nice gesture to our community to share the joy of reading and an opportunity to open our eyes, heart and imagination to a book we may not have thought of reading.

Please see registration link below to register or reach out to the studio with any questions on www.bluedandelionyoga@gmail.com

This practice offers an opportunity to gain perspective, insight, and clarity as we move through our winter season. An evening of a supportive practice of yin, finding our edge and releasing the layers of what may have served us well in the spring, summer & fall season....but no longer serves us for the winter season.

No yoga experience needed. We will work with props (blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets) to safely deepen into our Yin practice.

Raise Your Vibration ~ Intention Yoga Practice

As we begin a new year, this time of change allows for self-reflection and returning to the question of how we want to live and shape our lives.  in this workshop we will explore the power of Sankalpa or "heartfelt Intention”.  Sankalpa is a statement of guidance from our Highest Self, revealed through listening to our inner wisdom. It allows us to see clearly what we really seek.  The Sankalpa becomes the energy that brings our thoughts, words, and actions into closer alignment with our True Self.

In this workshop you will learn how to create your own Sankalpa and how to empower that intention.

We will start with a brief meditation and reflection exercise to release our intentions into the new year. We will move through a powerful Vinyasa practice to raise the vibration and energy behind our intentions. We will also be guided into some still Yin & Restorative  Yoga poses that allow us to listen to our hearts deepest intentions and inner wisdom.

$26.00 includes tax

Must preregister for the Workshop.

Some yoga experience of basic poses is helpful for the Vinyasa Practice of the Workshop.

Deep Relaxation led by Kathy McCoy

“Most of us believe that the way to relax is to step away from our lives.  To drop down on the couch and zone out.  However, plopping on the couch doesn't address the long-held tension in our body—tension that creates the pain and disease we chase after with therapies and medication.  Releasing tension is the act of consciously making space for whatever it is we're holding.”  Deep Listening by Jillian Pransky

You are invited to join Kathy McCoy who will guide participants in a practice of deep relaxation. A practice where we have the opportunity to relax our 'shoulds' and our 'supposed tos' and allow ourselves to listen to what our wise, inner guidance has to say.'
Gentle movement, mindful breathing and resting with awareness will be the focus and take away of this workshop.

Self-care is never a selfish act.
It is simply good stewardship of the
only gift I have, the gift
I was put on earth to offer others...
we do it not only for ourselves,
but for the many others whose
lives we touch.
~Parker J. Palmer

A Candlelight Workshop Calming the Winds of Vata ~ led by Laura Thomas

In this experiential workshop you will work with your personal constitution and seasonal influences to balance body, mind, and spirit. Vata is an elemental aspect of fall/winter from Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, which can become disrupted as we approach winter. You will learn ways to balance the coming season through movement, food choices and aromatherapy. Participants will leave feeling  renewed, refreshed and have a new approach to remaining calm and radiant throughout the holiday season.

Enjoy a flowing practice and deep relaxation with aroma therapy. Plan to stay for Vata balancing tea and conversation

$26 .00 for the workshop includes tax

Such a pleasure to have Laura visiting Blue Dandelion Yoga studio in Winsted to present this workshop. Much gratitude for her wonderful teachings and all she will share with you during this workshop. What a gift to the studio and students.

Opening the layers of the Hips Workshop with Becky Thompson

Opening the layers of the Hips Workshop with Becky Thompson

The Hips the "Attics of the Body"...... they hold emotions  & store so much along our journey of life.  Join us for an afternoon of hip opening poses that will work around all angles of our hips. Our everyday activities and the way we move our bodies often contributes to tight hips. Over time, the muscles around the hips can become either tight or overstretched from these daily activities.

This workshop will  be a combination of some still yoga asana & some hip-focused yoga flow. Hip openers help move prana (life force) and encourage the release of tension and stress stored in our hips. We will move through a yoga practice that promotes hip strength and flexibility, helping to unlock negative emotions, promote better posture, and boost our creativity. When we release the muscular tension, old stuck emotions in the hips can be shifted.

If you are looking to loosen up your hips or simply deepen your yoga practice then this workshop is right for you. We will work with props (blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets) to safely deepen the hip stretches. There will be modifications and progressions of poses suitable for anyone with some yoga experience.

Yin for the Season with Becky Thompson

Yin for the Season with Becky Thompson

A Yin Yoga practice for the Fall Season. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fall is associated with the lungs and large intestine organ systems. We will support these organs with a yin practice honoring the natural giving, letting go and receiving cycle of life.

This practice offers an opportunity to gain perspective, insight, and clarity after the year's growth phase before moving into its dormant period. An evening of a supportive practice of yin, finding our edge and releasing the layers of what may have served us well in the summer season....but no longer serves us for the fall season.

No yoga experience needed. We will work with props (blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets) to safely deepen into our Yin practice.
